The 23rd Annual Detroit Sports Broadcasters Association Charity Golf Scramble Presented by Farm Bureau Insurance will be held on Monday, July 13, 2009, at Cherry Creek Golf & Banquet Center in Shelby Township. Golf Committee members include chairman Dennis Davidson, co-chairman Bill Harrington, Jim Rein, Kathy Best, Carol Yerby, Sherrie Handrinos, Mary Ann Wells and George Eichorn. The DSBA President's Cup Trophy and DSBA Sports (Team) Challenge Cup are awarded.

The Detroit Sports Broadcasters Association announced recently that Farm Bureau Insurance of Michigan will be the presenting sponsor for the DSBA’s 23rd annual Charity Golf Scramble, Monday July 13, 2009 at Cherry Creek Golf Club in Shelby Township.

“Participation by Farm Bureau Insurance enables us to strengthen and expand the broadcast curriculum grants we provide high schools and colleges throughout Michigan”, said DSBA President, Rich Kincaide. “We want to support students that are interested in broadcasting careers whether they’re on-the-air or behind the scenes positions. Our grant program allows us to accomplish this.”

Established in 1948, the DSBA is a who’s who of present and past sports broadcasters including George Blaha, Ken Kal, Dan Dickerson, Dan Miller, Jim Brandstatter, Mario Impemba, Mark Champion, Frank Beckmann, Will Tieman, Bernie Smilovitz, Ernie Harwell, Budd Lynch, Ray Lane and others.

“We are thrilled to be participating with the DSBA in this event,” said Farm Bureau Executive Vice President, Jim Robinson. “We serve only Michigan, so we care deeply about the people and the communities of this state. We invest in programs that strengthen Michigan families and Michigan young people. The Detroit Sports Broadcasters Association Charity Grant program accomplishes that.”
