WINDSOR, Ontario (Canada) – Britain's Paul Bonhomme got back on top of the podium in the Red Bull Air Race World Championship on Sunday, June 14, 2009, with a stylish victory in the third race of 2009 in Windsor, Canada.Bonhomme had a flawless run in the finals, posting a time of 1:08.16 on the 15-gate course and beating defending champion Hannes Arch of Austria into second and American Kirby Chambliss into third. Canada’s rookie Pete McLeod picked up the first championship point of his Red Bull Air Race career by taking 11th place with some excellent flying on the course that straddles the Canada-U.S. border on the Detroit River. It was also a good day for the three American pilots with Chambliss getting third, Mike Mangold taking fourth and Michael Goulian getting a season-best sixth place. The race was, however, a disappointment for France's Nicolas Ivanoff, who won the last race in San Diego but fell back to 9th and for Britain’s Nigel Lamb, who was disqualified in the Super 8s and had to settle for eighth place. Australia’s rookie sensation Matt Hall had a setback as well, slipping to 7th after taking fifth in his first two races.
